ART DIRECTION COMMUNICATION (m/f/o)

Berlin

HR 1342

Do you feel at home between the poles of digital and physical space, between software and hardware and in interdisciplinary working environments? You have not assigned yourself to one design discipline, but see yourself as a skilled all-rounder who is willing and keen to tackle new areas? Technology does not scare you off, but instead excites you? If so, we look forward to welcoming you soon to our team as an art director.

Description of your tasks

As an art director, you will be responsible for the design side of projects. That means you will lead the project creatively, shape the vision of the plans and ensure that the interplay between the conception, design, development and production phases is successful and that they are intertwined. In addition to creative direction, you will ensure common understanding among all participants in close coordination with the project management, the media planning, IT development and the clients during the entire project. This therefore calls for your team skills, your open manner and your communication strengths. Furthermore, your tasks will include supporting and inspiring the team, and ensuring a productive working climate by being willing to listen and having a keen perception.

Since you will be working closely in small multidisciplinary teams, you will always be actively involved in the creative process and never have a purely coordinating role at ART+COM. In order to turn content and abstract information into impressive experiences and graspable narratives, you will bring in the expertise to convey complex requirements in digital/spatial/interactive designs that break away from common design styles and take technology further as a means of interaction or perhaps even change its purpose.

We will not specify whether you have to use storytelling, scenography, visual communication or prototyping as a means for design. It is above all important for us that you can vividly and convincingly communicate concepts using the tools you have available. This can take the form of freehand sketches, programmed demos, mini websites, mock-ups or user journeys. We are interested in how broadly you express yourself creatively and in the passion with which you implement your ideas.

Outline of your profile
  • Qualification in a relevant design study course that enables you to design interactive exhibits, installations and experience spaces, for example: media design, visual communication, scenography, interaction design, interface design, exhibition design, architecture or similar
  • Proficient in common design tools (Creative Cloud, Cinema4D, Unity and similar)
  • Experience in the area of computational design, scripting/python or AR/VR are very welcome, but not a requirement
  • Marked dialogue skills, high-level presentation skills and you enjoy conducting workshops
  • Experience in the creative management of projects as well as in dealing with customers
  • Very good German, fluent English
  • Good people skills and humour

Who we are

ART+COM is dedicated to creatively exploring the potential of new technology and media to enable interaction between people and content. In design, we produce complete concepts for media exhibits, installations and experiences that make information innovatively and surprisingly come alive in the broadest sense. We always look to get people involved and invite them to interact whether in cultural contexts, in commercial surrounds or in research projects.

Working in interdisciplinary teams, we sound out the boundaries between design, technical development and artistic production, try out new ideas and always aim to think outside the box. One key factor in our way of working is that we look at projects as a whole. We do not just meet the set requirements by approaching projects from different angles, but also always look for solutions that we ourselves believe in.

Basic details

You can be employed either on a full-time or a part-time basis (from 30 hours per week on average) with flexible time management. The place of work is Berlin, working from home is possible without limitations.

We offer an informal, respectful office climate in the working surrounds of a multifaceted location.

We look forward to receiving your application via Job Portal or by mail to jobs@artcom.de.
